The Nations Cookbook - Format
Noble Savage

The Nation's Cookbook is a great new access primetime show with a USP that relates to people across the globe and has all the multi-platform/sponsorship opportunities a broadcaster might want.

In this simple but addictive show, we are going to give amateur cooks the opportunity to show off the one dish their family or friends rave about and see if it is good enough to get into the ‘Nation's Cookbook'.

We all know someone who has one signature dish that we love them to cook. It might be your mum’s chicken casserole, your girlfriends spaghetti bolognaise recipe that has been handed down over generations…or your flat mate's chicken vindaloo. If that's the case, all you need to do is write into the show and we’ll see if it’s worth all the hype!

Because it’s not easy getting into ’The Nation’s Cookbook, the recipes must really be the best of the best. So the amateur chef is going to have to compete in a face-off with a professional chef cooking exactly the same dish… but with whatever ingredients he or she wants to use.

To win a place in The Nation's Cookbook, the amateur cook will have to beat the chef in a blind taste test conducted by three members of the audience, a food critic and a professional chef. All are blindfolded so they are not influenced by presentation and each must choose their winner.

If the amateur can prove their recipe was better than that of the professional chef, the winning dish will take pride of place in the 'The Nation's Cookbook' and receive national coverage for the dish through all the sponsors website and more importantly, take pride of place in ‘The Nation’s Cookbook, a hardback copy which will be sold in leading stores across the country.

And brilliantly, as more series are made, so more members of the public write in saying they have better versions of previously shown dishes and winners will be brought back to uphold their winning recipe against new pretenders to the crown!

Simple and addictive, who would you put forward for 'The Nation's Cookbook'?
